Explanation

In these lines the poet says in the hole month of June he has collected the roses.  He fastened the roses into a bunch. Now he wants to spread the petals of the roses on the path by which has beloved, Pauline may pass. He fears that she may move away from his path. Then she may not be able to see his rose petals there. But he will scatter them there. He also fears that may dry up. But the again begin to hope that his beloved may see them and like them. They may attract her eyes.

Paraphrase

During the month of June, I tied the rose flowers and removed their leaves. Then I spread the petals on the path of my beloved Pauline. She did not take any notice of the flowers. I let the flowers lie there, because there was a chance that the flowers might attract her attention.

The poet says that he has tried hard for many months to learn paying upon to lute. It has been difficult for him to make his hard fingers to play upon his lute for his beloved. Now he wants to express his love by playing upon the lute before her. He wants to please her. He fears that she may not come there to hear his music. He thinks he will break the string of the lute, if he cannot use it for her. He desires that perhaps she may ask him to sing and play music.

Paraphrase

For many months, I tried my fingers to learn how to play on the instrument. Today, I want to take risks. I have fears that she may refuse to listen my music. Should I, therefore break my instrument.  But there is a chance that Pauline may order me to sing a song to her.

In these lines the poet says that he has remained busy in learning the art of love for his whole life. Now he will express his passions of love to his beloved. He says that he will accept whatever she give s to him. She may accept his love or rejects it. If she accepts it she will be getting heaven on this earth. He will be most fortunate. If she rejects his love he will be very unfortunate. He will be getting hell on this earth. But he will suffer all this. He is prepared to accept whatever answer his beloved gives her.

Paraphrase

Throughout my life I learned to love. Now I express my strong feelings. I so not know whether I will succeed in my lover or not. I feel that I may not succeed in my love. Yet, I am prepared to accept my defeat in a fine manner. I can say that those who succeed in love are fortunate.
